Kokusai SHIN BUDO Kyokai

WELCOME TO – KOKUSAI SHIN BUDO KYOKAI

Shin budo Worldwide

Shin – True. Budo – The Martial Way. Kyokai – Association.

Kokusai Shin Budo Kyokai is the International home of Shinbudo – a modern traditional martial art formulated by DaiShihan Kevin O’Connor 10th Dan.

What makes Shinbudo different?
Hanshi O’Connor created Shinbudo at the level of 6th Dan Karate, 6th Dan Jujitsu and 2nd Dan Aikido, drawing on a lifetime in Budo that began with Judo at age 6 in 1963 in the U.K. He is the author of two definitive books on the system.

Teaming up with Stephan Leifeld Shihan, founder of the International Shinbudo Association in Germany, the founders brought Shinbudo to recognition in Japan and worldwide.

Shinbudo is a complete Karate-Jutsu system:

  • Powerful, traditional Karate
  • Effective Jujitsu and Goshin Jutsu
  • Flowing Aikido principles
  • Modern application for real self-defense

We are NOT a sport karate organization. We hold to the old Budo values: Respect, Discipline, Tough Training, and High Standards.

Who is it for?
For the serious practitioner who seeks a true Budo home. From young beginners learning modern, safe methods to experienced Dan grades seeking depth and authenticity.

Join a Global Family.
With dojos throughout Europe, the Middle East, USA, Japan and Hong Kong – you are joining more than a style, you are joining a brotherhood of Budo.

Kokusai Shin Budo Kyokai = International New Budo Association.

Is a independent international network built around a style called SHINBUDO.

Built on 60+ years of experience since 1963, Shinbudo unites Karate-Jutsu, Jujitsu and Aikido into one complete system. Not sport. Real Budo. Tough training, high standards, true spirit.

Founders / Heads:

  • DaiShihan Kevin O’Connor – U.K. based. Started judo at age 6 in 1963. Founder of the Shinbudo system.
  • Stephan Leifeld Shihan – Germany based, founder of International Shinbudo Association. The two groups teamed up to bring the art to recognition in Japan.

Shinbudo is described as a Karate-jutsu system that incorporates:

  • Karate
  • Jujitsu / modern jujutsu
  • Aikido elements
  • and Goshin Jutsu / self-defence

Members are those who wish to be practitioners of SHINBUDO and the arts incorporated into the Karate jutsu system.

In the wider martial arts world the name “Shinbudo” is also used generically for modern budo competition formats –

Mix Kumite, Jujutsu Kumite, Jujutsu Kata (Goshin Jutsu demo) and Sport Kenjutsu with soft padded swords – described as a combined training program of modern jujutsu (judo, aikido, karate) and modern kenjutsu.

In short: Kokusai Shin Budo Kyokai is Kevin O’Connor’s international organization for his Shinbudo system – a non-sport, BUDO oriented blend of karate and jujitsu with roots in British budo from the 60’s, now spread via Germany to the rest of the world.
